The Book Barn in Niantic, Connecticut is a wonderland for the book lover.
Books are everywhere; inside, outside, in sheds, as well as little buildings. There is a busy buzz of visitors selling books and walking about; not so busy to disturb you in your pursuit of the perfect book, but busy enough to make the place feel magically alive. Cat’s wander freely, mingling with the guests. Paths direct you to each genre of book, decorated with whimsical signs to point the way. Inside the Haunted Book Shop is a musty atmosphere perfect for sifting through stories chilling and mysterious. A table is set up with a game of chess, another with checkers. Under a tree are two chairs, perfect for sorting through one’s treasures.
I wish I could do justice to the magical atmosphere of this bookish wonderland. But aside from taking you on a photographic tour, I can only urge you, at the first opportunity, to make a visit and experience it for yourself. Enjoy!
What are some of your favorite bookstores? What about books, have you read any good books lately? I recently finished The Secret Adversary by Agatha Christie and remained absolutely riveted to the end!
Have a good weekend!
